What Meditation Really Is | Weekly Course

Rigpa’s introductory meditation course is beginning again soon, on Tuesday 1 November.

This course follows on from the first module of What Meditation Really Is, and as such is ideal for people who have completed that module. However, new people will also be given plenty of opportunities to pick up on the material covered in the introductory module. Basically, this course is suitable for everyone!

Meditation

If you have been meaning to start a daily meditation practice but your busy life has kept interfering, then this weekly course is designed for you! It will give you time to catch your breath and the tools and understanding you need to start developing a daily meditation practice.

Or if you already have a regular meditation but would like to deepen your experience and learn and share more in a supportive environment – then this weekly course is for you!

More people than ever are experiencing the benefits of meditation, and now meditation (and mindfulness) have become an invaluable tool for modern people from all walks of life. These meditation techniques came from over 2,000 years of Buddhist wisdom and can also be experienced, not only as a tool for modern living but also as a true spiritual path.

Weekly course over five weeks starting Tuesday 1 November

The weekly course is suitable for beginners. Apart from exploring the foundations of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, this course will enable students to explore a wide range of meditation methods and experiences with time for guided practices within the class. It will also include looking at methods not covered in the introductory module held in August/September, such as using sense objects, thoughts and emotions as objects of meditation.

Instructors & Format

Led by experienced meditators and comprising of videos, small group discussion and space for meditation practice, this course has been developed over many years to offer a spacious yet ample introduction to centuries old authentic meditation practices.

You will be introduced to topics such as:

  • What is meditation and why meditate?
  • The meditation posture and the method
  • The View
  • Different methods of meditation available
  • The benefits of meditation
  • How to bring the benefits of meditation into daily life

Tuesday 1 November, 7 pm – 9:15 pm (and every Tuesday until 29 November)
