158 Australia Street Newtown has been a place for the community to meet and celebrate together since 1863. Comprehensively renovated in 2018, it is a striking and inspirational venue which we are delighted to make available to you for your events.
The Centres' rooms are flooded with natural light, with a beautiful and peaceful outlook directly over Camperdown Memorial Rest Park.

ABOUT THE MAIN HALL
This airy, light filled, spacious 20 metre by 8 metre room comfortably seats 150 people. It features a beautifully restored cathedral ceiling, freshly laid timber flooring and crisp, clear acoustics. The windows facing all four directions and skylights allow for natural light to flow through the hall throughout the day. Our Main Hall is ideally suited for weddings, naming ceremonies, funerals, art exhibitions and public talks.
The main hall has wheelchair access and includes a disability bathroom. A kitchenette is also available, and four unisex toilets in the gallery upstairs.

ABOUT THE PARK VIEW SPACE
The Park View room is ideal for events including seminars, workshops, ceremonies with a small audience, and community group meetings. It comfortably seats 35 people and overlooks the beautiful trees of Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. Set well back from the street and with high ceilings, it is up two sets of stairs and has a peaceful, intimate and cosy ambience.

There are many ways to get to 158 Australia Street:
- Newtown or Erskineville train stations
- Buses running along King Street (routes 352, 355 (Bondi), 370 (Coogee), 422, 423, 426, 428, m30 - King Street at Erskinville Road stop) and Parramatta Road
- On-street parking is limited and can found in the surrounding streets
- The nearest public parking station, just two minutes walk away, is the small Dendy Newtown Car Park offering 24-hour parking seven days a week.
